Illustrated with another gorgeous blue budgie, the envelope features two $1.10 Australia Post stamps that continue the theme. A BIRDWOOD SA 5234 postmark in the shape of a budgie includes the words ‘First day of issue 11 July 2022’. The envelope also includes Australia Post’s Seal of Authenticity.

A budgerigar, more commonly known as a budgie, is a small, colourful parakeet native to Australia. In the wild, where they live in nomadic flocks, budgies are green and yellow with black markings. However, birds are bred in captivity for a greater variety of colours. Enormously appealing, they’re thought to be the third most popular pet in the world.

The coloured Australian coin depicts a beautiful blue budgie perched on a stem. As well as the inscription ‘BUDGERIGAR’, the design includes The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark
