Scientists, aboard the CSIRO research vessel (RV) Investigator, have explored the deep-sea and ocean abyss, discovering amazing and unique creatures of the deep.

Blob Fish (Psychrolutes) are from the Psychrolutidae family, often called fathead sculins, referring to their large, global head & 'floppy' skin.  They inhabit the deep waters of all ocean basins.  An iconic deep sea creature, their grumpy, forlorn-looking faces have seen them crowned as the 'world's ugliest animal'.
