2023 Poppies of Remembrance Magnetic Badge LIMITED Edition cover - Impressions Release 074-450
Limited to 450
During World War I, the red poppy was abundant in the fields of the Western Front, as well as in “Poppy Valley” on the Gallipoli Peninsula, and this flower soon became an evocative symbol of remembrance for the service and sacrifice of those in the armed forces. While the red poppy is closely linked to Remembrance Day and Anzac Day, it is not the only poppy of remembrance. This stamp issue features the red poppy alongside two other symbolic poppies: white (for peace and all victims of war) and purple (for animals who serve in war). The stamp illustrations use silhouettes to form each coloured poppy, the silhouettes representing those being remembered – literally placing them at the heart.
