The 2024 Australian Kangaroo is the first Perth Mint Coin to feature the Effigy of His Majesty King Charles III on the obverse.

Previously known as the Prince of Wales, Charles became King on the death of his Mother, Queen Elizabeth II, on 8th September 2022.  As well as the United Kingdom, he was proclaimed King of 14 Commonwealth Realms, accompanied by his wife Camilla, who was crowned Queen.

The coin’s reverse portrays a bounding kangaroo surrounded by stylised rays of sunlight. The inscription ‘AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO’, the coin’s weight, purity, and the 2024 year-date appear within a border pattern of wavy lines. Also incorporated in the design is a ‘P125’  mintmark signifying The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary

The coin bears the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, and the monetary denomination
